Encapsulated Beads

Today the cosmetic particles are colourful suspended visual actives to catch consumer’s attention at retail shelf and to perform technical functions such as delivery of active or exfoliation of skin. Depending on the intended function of product, the cosmetic particles not only provide tactical appeal but also help consumer perceive that the product is carrying out its intended function such as delivery of active or exfoliation of skin. Cosmetic particles of different composition and size allow customization such as hardness, feel and playtime which influences the consumer. At the same time formulators are marketers are becoming aware that cosmetic particles are effective in increasing product sales and the trend showing no sign of abating. Small but functional particles included in a formulation not only provide value addition but also help the formulator to enhance emolliency for delivery of active ingredient or to exfoliate and also to add colour or contrast. This explains their rapid popularity in all areas of personal care products.

Pressure Sensitive Milliglobules

Milliglobule is a soft, spherical structure made of 100% natural plant polymer wherein oils, vitamin oil/water soluble herbal extracts, natural essential oils, aromatic chemicals, aromatherapy oils, bioactives and micronized powders including colours and glitters are homogenously dispersed in the particle. The milliglobules breaks easily on gentle application of pressure, blending into the skin leaving no debris.

Properties of pressure sensitive milliglobules

  • Milliglobules are soft structures made in various sizes from 200 micron to 2500 micron.
  • The globules have perfect spherical geometry, excellent suspendability in personal care. cosmetic bases and have rapid dispersion with excellent uniformity distribution.
  • There is no change in product pH and hence globules are safe on skin and mucous membrane.
  • The globules can release actives at target spot and hence is very useful concept in skin care.
  • The milliglobules help avoid surfactants and cream stabilizers as gently entrapped in the globule, which can then be suspended in gels.
  • Aroma oils containing milliglobules will dissolve in hot water and hence are very useful for steam facials, bath products or aromatherapy.
  • The milliglobules afford a wonderful cosmetic appeal and can be coloured depending on the customer’s choice to afford the visual differentiation.
  • Users can actually see the actives they are using such a vitamin in gel.

Cosmetic applications of pressure sensitive milliglobules

  • Face wash gels
  • Vitamin E/Tea tree oil gels
  • Herbal extract gel
  • Massage gel
  • Moisturizing gel
  • Tooth paste gel
  • Transparent soaps
  • Eucalyptus oil globules for steam inhalation therapy

Hard Non-Crushable Microspheres

The microspheres are hard spherical structure made of natural cellulose polymer in micron sizes also called matrixes or micro matrixes. Microsphere is analogous to a spherical sponge wherein oils, vitamins, oil, soluble herbal extracts, natural essential oils and aromatherapy oils etc. can be uniformly dispersed similar to a sponge that take up and holds water in its structure.

Properties of pressure sensitive milliglobules

  • Microspheres are hard particles made in various size options from 100 micron to 1000 micron.
  • Microspheres have perfect spherical geometry, excellent suspendability in personal care cosmetics bases and have rapid dispersion with excellent uniformity of distribution.
  • The microspheres cause no discomfort unlike harsh chemical or crushed fruit nuts which can cause micro lacerations.
  • There is no change in product pH and hence microspheres are safe on skin and mucous membrane.
  • The microspheres are compatible with all kind of personal care cosmetic bases and need no modification in the final product. They improve stability of encapsulated material by physically isolating them from the formulation excipients and incompatible ingredients.
  • The microspheres can release actives slowly while carrying out its intended function of ex-foliation and thus gives sustained/controlled release of actives to the skin.
  • The microspheres improve the cleansing property of soap free gel face washes.
  • The microspheres afford a very attractive and wonderful cosmetic appeal such as multicolored spheres in clear gels or dark coloured spheres in a light coloured gel/cream.
